How Much for a Ticket to Ride in Space With Leo DiCaprio?

Leonardo DiCaprio preparing for charity takeoff (WireImage) An auction item featuring actor Leonardo DiCaprio went for $1.5 million at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS charity dinner in Cannes on Thursday — and the winning experience is one befitting of Gatsby himself. A lucky bidder paid the massive sum ($1.2 million in euros) for a ride on Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic, which offers commercial flights to space, alongside the "Titanic" star. The package was set up by showbiz exec Harvey Weinstein, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Coinciding with the glamorous Cannes Film Festival, amfAR's annual bash welcomes Hollywood stars and the deep pockets that love to shmooze with them to the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. This year's attendees included Nicole Kidman , Janet Jackson , Jessica Chastain, Christoph Waltz, Adrien Brody , Sharon Stone , Rosario Dawson , Zachary Quinto, and Goldie Hawn to name a few. Listed as a "once-in-a-lifetime trip to space with a mystery guest," THR confirms DiCaprio was present when the big spender claimed the prize. Can't afford a trip to space with Leo? One of his guilt-free candy bars might ease the pain.
