Alex Rodriguez Sells Miami Mansion for $30 Million

Zillow Major League Baseball star Alex Rodriguez may be considered one of the game's greatest players, but when it came to selling his Miami mega-mansion, he was striking out ... until now. A-Rod's keeping his Miami mansion .. . for now. (Troy Rizzo/Getty Images) After buying the waterfront lot in 2010 for $7. 4 million and having the 10-bedroom home custom built, A-Rod put the place on the market in August just a year after taking possession of it. Asking price? A cool $38 million. Then, in January, the New York Yankees third baseman took the stunning contemporary pad off the market. Guess no one wanted to shell out the hefty purchase price? Now, however, A-Rod's scored a home run and sold the place for $30 million. Sure, it's $8 million under his one-time asking price, but according to various reports, the athlete spent somewhere between $7.6 million and $18 million to build the home, which means he still netted him some sort of profit even after selling at the "discounted" price. And the new owner has plenty of luxury to look forward to. The house, situated on Miami's Biscayne Bay, has both water and city skyline views and features a head-spinning amount of outdoor space, including expansive covered terraces, a "vanishing edge" heated pool, full outdoor kitchen, and rooftop deck, all on 275 feet of water frontage with two docks. And A-Rod doesn't have to worry about any privacy issues. The home is gated, walled, and has 16 security cameras, according to the listing . Zillow The house has tons more features than your average American home, of course, including Zen gardens, a separate gym, home theater, and a batting cage for a little after-work practice. And in case the potential buyer had any concerns over being smack on the water during hurricane season, there's no need to worry. The mansion comes "hurricane ready" with "thick impact glass" and a "home generator." One things for sure: His neighbors probably aren't sorry to see Rodriguez go. According to a story that ran in the Miami New Times in November, some members of the community are pushing for stricter permits for TV and film shoots in the area in response to Rodriguez's side gig: renting out his home on a weekly basis as the backdrop of feature films, reality shows like "The X Factor," and even a Victoria's Secret TV commercial. "They didn't ask me," Rodriguez's neighbor, 79-year-old Ira Friedman, told the paper. "They just clogged up the road with their trucks and put a notice in my mailbox advising me that they were shooting next door.. . This was not a one-time-a-year thing. This was a business." Sounds like Ira's in luck: The business is closing up shop. Check out more pics of the gorgeous home below ...
